We're thrilled to have completed a double win at the first-ever Cambridge Independent Business Awards, reinforcing our strong position in the local business community.

At this event, which honours the achievements of leading local businesses, we secured two major awards: Employer of the Year and Business Person of the Year.

The Employer of the Year award highlights our commitment to building a positive and supportive workplace. With a growing team of over 250 employees, this recognition reflects the collective effort and dedication of the entire team, driving our continued success and our positive impact on the Cambridge community.

Adding to the celebration, our Chief Executive Peter Burrows was named Business Person of the Year for his outstanding leadership. Under Peter’s direction, The Cambridge has not only improved financial performance but also significantly enhanced customer satisfaction. His leadership continues to drive the Society’s growth and innovation.

Peter said: “We all know what a special organisation The Cambridge Building Society is, and it’s a fantastic feeling to see that recognised by the broader Cambridge business community with our ‘Employer of the Year’ award. Moments like these give us a chance to pause and appreciate just how much we accomplish together. At our core, we're 250 people working as one team, trying to make a difference for our members and our communities. So, a huge congratulations to everyone."

Also, we proudly sponsored the Social Enterprise of the Year award, which was presented to Abbey People, a charity making a real difference in Cambridge’s Abbey Ward. The charity’s work, including a Food Hub, education programmes, and employment support, is vital to improving the well-being of the local community.
